In Sarah Ruhl’s fresh and witty comedy — Dead Man’s Cell Phone, Jean is enjoying a bowl of lobster bisque by herself, when some guy’s cell phone goes off. After asking him to turn it off repeatedly, she discovers that he(Gordon) is dead. Impulsively she answers the phone and as she continues to do so, she unexpectedly finds herself pushed out of her own introverted life and into the mysterious one of a stranger. What does Jean find as she falls down the rabbit hole? Come to the Blue Room Theatre and find out.
“Cell phones, iPods, wireless computers will change people in ways we don’t even understand. We’re less connected to the present. No one is where they are. There’s absolutely no reason to talk to a stranger anymore—you connect to people you already know. But how well do you know them? Because you never see them.”
-Sarah Ruhl, The New Yorker, March 17, 2008
